Not too bothered if there's no potential for vehicles tbh, if we have them at every event, they'll lose their "wow!" factor pretty quickly.

Last time I went the area of replanted trees in the southern sector of the site was out of bounds, but you could skirt around it. That may have changed now they've grown a bit.

Summary:
General Mark Clark's 5th Army stuck at Salerno.
504th PIR was parachuted near Salerno September 13 1943. guided in by burning oil drums
1300 troopers landed to assist beleaguered soldiers of the 5th Army.
505th PIR was dropped the following night.
September 15th the 325th Glider Infantry Regiment (GIR) was brought into the beachhead amphibiously.
Once the beachhead was secured, the 504th PIR & the 376th PFAB began an attack to recover Altavilla.
The division fought towards Naples which it reached on October 1 1943.
So, we have incumbent 5th Army (376th PFAB?) plus 504th PIR, 505th PIR + 325th GIR. Who on earth were they fighting?
If I recall, the 16th Panzer Division (not 16th SS). Kesselring was in charge, so no wonder the Yanks had a hard time of it.

Just a thought - if we wandered into 1944 then the scenario could be built around Anzio & Operation Shingle (or less obviously Operation Fischfang - a German offensive that reacted to Shingle). 505th PIR, Rangers and Infantry for US, Commandos, Infantry (& Foresters) for Brits (plus all manner of RA, RTR, RE) vs Kesselring 10th Army (HG Infantry & Panzer, Fallschirmjäger as well as 16thSS).
If we're only having 20 a side, whether Slaerno or Anzio, it may be better to focus on one particular army per side, rather than dilute it down to loads of different units. Worked perfectly well at Ariel.

True, I just thought we have Brits with KD kit already, steal PBIs thunder with Foresters and give 16SS a chance to play in uniforms they already have.
BTW, at Ariel there was no cohesion on Allied side at all.

Oh, I know that but (apart from 1 pole) they were all Brits. It's an idea I suppose but, with small numbers, the allies may look a bit silly in my opinion, with brit infantry, US paras, rangers and infantry. If you give players choice, they'll go for airborne and rangers and we'll have no leg infantry.
My thought was to do a game which involved americans, as they don't get much mileage out of the kit (especially if Webbys game gets canned). Then, we can say with some pride, that this year, we've catered for Russians, Brits AND Yanks, as well as giving the Germans chances to use diverse kit and weapons too. Cock company won't come, so no worries about an Autumn Mist style farce.

Webby's just contacted me saying that he's planning a game for October to replace Kasserine. They'd like to base it around Southern France/Italy. He was asking if it would clash with our event planned for the 3rd.
I told him yes....it most certainly would.
He doesn't see Southern France as clashing with Salerno.

I told him it was Oct 3rd after that, and that it was Southern Italy, a follow-on from Husky.
Fair enough. I was just thinking that, if Webby knows, PBI know and they were going to reschedule "Oosterbeek" for mid september.
